- Let’s first clarify what a carrier oil is. If you have already come across CBD products, in particular CBD oils. Then you probably noticed that such oils have such a parameter as concentration. This parameter is expressed as a percentage of the content of cannabinoids. And then we see, for example, the content of 5% CBD. Or in quantitative terms. And then we see, for example, the content of 1000Mg CBD. Obviously, the content of CBD in the bottle of oil is some minor part of the total content of the bottle. Obviously CBD oil is diluted to some acceptable concentration. On the other hand, concentrated CBD oil, with a concentration of 60-99%, should not be taken at all for a number of reasons. This means that concentrated CBD oil must be diluted to some acceptable concentration that is adequate for ease of use and effectiveness. And this is what the carrier oil is for, in it the excessive concentration of CBD oil is reduced to acceptable values.
- The types of carrier oil can be different and some of the qualities and properties of the final CBD oil depend on this. Let’s look at the main types of carrier oil.
- MCT oil. Organic MCT oil with medium chain triglyceride. Derived from coconut oil. Easily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and very quickly metabolized by the liver, where they stimulate the use of fat for energy rather than for the accumulation of fat reserves. CBD (cannabidiol) with MCT oil has the longest shelf life, up to two years. MCT oil has a mild taste and does not cover the taste and smell of CBD oil, in this case you can feel the taste and smell of CBD. Has high transparency. Doesn’t freeze in the fridge.
- olive oils. Olive oil as a carrier oil has a more pronounced taste, color and smell. However, it also has great benefits. It is rich in oleic acid, which contributes to the optimal flow of metabolic processes, strengthens the walls of blood vessels. The omega-9 fatty acids it contains have an anti-carcinogenic effect, help lower blood pressure, normalize blood cholesterol levels, and are useful for preventing diabetes and obesity. Linoleic acid, which is rich in olive oil, accelerates wound healing, helps improve vision. Vitamins A, D, K strengthen the intestinal walls, bone tissue. And vitamin E is a highly active antioxidant, it smoothes the skin, gives hair shine, slows down the aging process. CBD with an olive oil carrier has a long shelf life, up to a year. In the refrigerator, the oil may freeze and crystallize, but at room temperature it will again become liquid and transparent.
- Hemp Seed Oil. Hemp seed oil. It has a great biological value for the body, deserving a separate article. It boosts the immune system and is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent. Due to the saturation of the oil with Omega-3 and Omega-6 acids, it is of great importance for the normalization of metabolic processes, improves the functioning of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Antioxidants present in hemp oil prevent premature aging of the body. Many oncologists recommend using hemp oil in order to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy. Hemp oil is useful for absolutely everyone and at any age. Oil improves lactation, strengthens male and female sexual health. Due to its high calcium content, hemp oil will be very useful for osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases of the bones and joints. Possessing properties that increase immunity, it is advisable to use it for people after prolonged illnesses and surgical interventions. When choosing hemp seed oils as CBD oil base oils, the shelf life of the final product is up to six months. This oil has a much more pronounced taste compared to other oils. May be stored in the refrigerator.
- Other oils There are other oils that have extremely strong beneficial properties, such as black cumin oil. And it seems attractive to use it as a CBD carrier oil. But, a certain obstacle is that it should be taken fresh, such oil cannot be stored for a long time.
- Storage All types of CBD oils should not be stored in direct sunlight.
