Why is CBD a good choice for treating ADD/ADHD?
Both ADD and ADHD are characterized by low levels of dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that controls the cognitive abilities of the brain, such as memory, attention levels, and mood. Low levels of this chemical cause Attention Deficit Disorder.
Cannabinoids have been shown to improve the transmission of the brain chemical neurotransmitter dopamine, which helps improve cognitive processes. CBD helps increase concentration in ADHD patients by activating adenosine receptors in the brain, thereby reducing anxiety levels. It also helps to minimize distraction and hyperactivity in patients with ADHD.
The cognitive-enhancing properties of cannabidiol have made it useful in the treatment of conditions other than attention deficit disorder. It can relieve anxiety, pain, and depression, as well as help with other neurological problems.
What research shows
In one study on the effectiveness of CBD for ADHD, patients who took CBD oil showed a reduction in hyperactivity, improved sleep, and increased concentration. Research conducted in 2014one in Germany and included 30 participants, was conducted by Dr. Eva Milz with the assistance of Dr. Franjo Grotenhermen. All 30 patients there was no response to medical treatment or conventional medications for ADHD. However, they responded positively to CBD.
In another study conducted in 20132, CBD oil has been introduced to self-medicated patients. Over time, patients reported relief from the impulsiveness and hyperactivity characteristic of the attention deficit disorder they suffered from. Thus, the researchers confirmed the benefits of taking CBD.
How CBD Works
When you consume CBD oil, it acts on 2 receptors. These receptors, known as CB1 and CB2, have a direct effect on certain organs and systems in the human body.
CB1 is more common and is directly linked to the condition that causes epilepsy. CB2 is more abundant in the immune system and is associated with pain perception as well as inflammation.
Having all the cannabinoids we need in our bodies can bring us a range of benefits, including reduced levels of anxiety and hyperactivity.
Potential Benefits of CBD Over Conventional Therapies
Traditional ADHD medications fall into two categories: stimulants and non-stimulants.
Stimulant drugs for the treatment of ADHD are fast-acting and widely used. In fact, between 70 and 80 percent of American children use this type of treatment to address symptoms of attention deficit disorder.
However, stimulant drugs are not without side effects. These include:
- insomnia
- lack of appetite
- weight loss
- headache
- dry mouth
- mood changes
CBD oil has few side effects.
Real experience of using CBD for ADHD from our client and results
It is unlikely that anyone will argue that modern children have become very different from the generations of not only their grandparents, but even their parents. This is due to the fact that children are now growing and developing in slightly different conditions than they used to be. The abundance of digital information, audio and video communications, as well as newfangled trends and practices of “early development” have led to the fact that most children are rapidly going through the age stages of mental and emotional maturation, as if “ahead” of them.
However, from the physiological side, the child’s body develops more measuredly, according to the years lived. So, the child’s nervous system can not always cope with the load that falls on it. This leads to various “failures” in her work: children at an early age refuse daytime sleep, become excitable, many develop hyperactivity syndrome or ADHD syndrome, which subsequently cannot but affect their health, learning process and further development.
How can we protect our children from strong emotional and psychological stress and provide them with a healthy childhood? Our colleague will tell about this – children’s teacher and psychologist Anna from Moscow.
Anna:
“I have been working with young children and primary school students for more than 10 years, and every year many of them have some behavioral features that parents attribute to “character” or emotional imbalance. One of the most common manifestations was hyperactivity syndrome in children with attention deficit – or syndrome ADHD.
The problem also lies in the fact that with moderate ADHD, no significant therapy is prescribed for young patients. As a result, the child may be in a state of stress and excitability for a long time, it becomes difficult for parents to cope with it, they try to involve the child in the learning process as much as possible so that he is “in business”, thus creating an additional burden on his nervous system. A familiar situation, perhaps, for many?
That is why I would like to share my professional experience in the use of healthy cannabis products and the successful results from their use. Of course, not all parents know that medical cannabis (namely, its non-psychoactive varieties, which are specially grown on certified farms both in Europe and in Russia and other CIS countries) – has a completely different application than in the well-established youth perception that cannabis is something either prohibited or nothing to do with health.
I started my experience in the Czech Republic, on one of my business trips. As it turned out, the use of hemp products has long become popular in Europe – oils with CBD (canabidiol), which are taken by courses not only by adults, but also by children during periods of increased mental and emotional stress, during the school year, as well as in the presence of any medical indications. After that, we began to try some of the products for our children – hemp tea, hemp oil, as well as products with CBD.
We obtained the most pronounced therapeutic effect from CBD in a child who was already diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5. The boy had difficulty falling asleep in the evenings, during the day he had mood swings, during classes it was difficult for him to concentrate, it was literally very difficult to sit still. Our pediatrician said that “now all children are like this, this is age-related – they will get older and pass”, but when he was 7 years old, the situation only worsened. It was very difficult for us to “transform” from preschool to school life, and we decided to try a course of children’s cannabis therapy.
My Czech friends recommended contacting Cannadorra consultants, who have sufficient experience and qualifications. After consultation with two specialists, we were recommended an individually designed course: the optimal course for a child of early school age was 5% crystalline CBD oil, which contains pure (purified from other hemp isomers) cannabidiol. The oil had to be taken in minimal concentrations – 1-2 drops in the morning and during the day, for several months. After 2 weeks of admission, it was already possible to evaluate the result.
Imagine our surprise when we saw the result: the child had a clear daily routine, he practically stopped getting tired, his attention concentration improved significantly, and his general emotional state became much more stable. This brought positive results in his studies: Dima went to the first grade with great pleasure, and it seemed that he was already absolutely ready for school life, in many ways he became more independent.
After some time, we began to recommend healthy hemp products to parents and their children during the school adaptation period, to support the child’s nervous system, as well as for a calm and happy learning process.
So, I was happy to share our successful experience with Cannadorra hemp products and would like to recommend all parents to be careful and careful about the health of our children. Especially at preschool and early school age, because at this stage the foundations are laid with which the child and teenager will subsequently live.
If you or your child have feelings of anxiety or chronic overexertion, do not remain indifferent to this. Perhaps you will find support for yourself in natural products made from hemp.”
Other Notable Applications
A mother whose daughter was diagnosed with ADHD continued her CBD treatment to help her daughter. It was difficult for the girl to concentrate on tasks, and she also had problems with memory. A few days after the start of treatment, my daughter showed significant improvement.
She became more attentive, remembered information better, and her feelings of anxiety were not as pronounced as before. She was also able to sleep better and sleep was regular.
An 11-year-old boy named Evin suffered from uncontrollable outbursts of anger and irritation. Sometimes he was so angry that he did things that could hurt him. After a few days of taking CBD oil, he began to feel calmer and less irritable. His social life also improved as he was able to communicate without resorting to arguments. He became much more calm.
He noticed a gradual return of symptoms when he missed his daily dose of CBD. He helped the boy deal with Attention Deficit Disorder to the point where his life returned to normal, without the usual anxiety, stress and anger. Most importantly, his mood improved, which helped him interact well with those around him.
Another little boy suffered from a constant bad mood and got into trouble with those around him – parents, brothers, sisters and friends. His parents took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with ADD. Then he began to take CBD oil to treat this disease.
After a few days, his symptoms began to decrease. He became more animated and was able to concentrate better and longer on tasks. His parents attributed the improvement to CBD, which he took daily.
Is it legal to use CBD oils in Russia?
To answer this question, it is necessary to study in detail the legislation of the Russian Federation or consult with a legal representative. The answer for today would be: cannabidiol is NOT psychoactive compound in the hemp plant, then it, as an independent isomer, is NOT included in the list of prohibited substances.
Therefore, CBD in cosmetics and other products is absolutely legal. However, based on the spectral analysis of the hemp-derived product, it is necessary to make sure that it does not contain residual shares of other substances, namely, THC, which is banned in Russia. That is why buyers from Russia should give preference to pure, crystalline CBD oils, which contain purified cannabidiol.
How to use CBD
Cannabidiol is available in several forms – CBD oil, CBD vaporization, as well as CBD capsules or CBD hemp oil in fish oil, etc.
If you are “new” to CBD, you should start with the lowest dose possible – around 25 milligrams. Gradually increasing the dose will allow your body to get used to the oil and reduce the risk of side effects.
