CBD (CBD, Cannabidiol) in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a serious mental disorder that in most cases begins as dementia. This is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that begins slowly and gradually destroys the human psyche. In most cases, the symptoms of the disease are considered: memory loss and cognitive dysfunction.

It is expected that by 2050 there will be 13.8 million patients, that is, the number of cases will increase by 68%. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease, but there are research results that show that cannabidiol has a retarding disease and healing power. Scientists even argue that cannabinoids will be the next generation of drugs.

The biochemistry of the human nervous system is incredibly complex and little understood. However, it is believed that keeping brain tissue healthy throughout life can significantly reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases of old age, or at least slow down their course and alleviate symptoms. Regular physical and mental exercise is probably the best way to keep your nervous tissue healthy; however, the chemical balance in the brain can also be corrected by taking certain chemicals, such as those found in cannabis.

Hemp contains many different cannabinoids, plant-specific substances that have a similar structure but affect brain function and metabolism in different ways. Among the cannabinoids, THC and CBD are probably the most important, with a number of properties that are interesting in terms of Alzheimer’s disease. They reduce inflammation, act as antioxidants and neuroprotectors, and even stimulate the growth of new neural tissue.
