Quote from the study:
The role of the endocannabinoid system in the treatment of nicotine addiction is confirmed more and more.
After conducting trial tests (randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled), it is possible to evaluate the effectiveness of cannabidol (CBD) use in smokers who wanted to quit. The 24 smokers were randomly divided into those who were inhaled and those who were given CBD (n=12) for 1 week.
The subjects were given instructions on how to use the inhalers when they felt like smoking. After one week, the placebo group showed no change in the number of cigarettes they smoked. In the group of subjects who took CBD, the number of cigarettes smoked decreased by 40%.
These preliminary data are another argument in the strong evidence base for the use of CBD, including CBD can potentially be used in the treatment of nicotine addiction. The test results require further study.
